about

This song is one of my favorites. It simply says something that I have wanted to say for a long time. What I find is that we as Black people have become accustomed to accepting less as soon as someone popularizes our weaknesses and makes money off of our pain. Since our suffering is for sale, I thought I would make it a special. I wanted some of my emcee friends to rhyme on it. I was at the house and super producer Bobby Ozuna came by and laid down some crazy drums. He literally played the snare while holding it in the air because my drum set is so crappy. Then while at his studio in San Francisco we found some samples and he made some drums that demanded I spit a verse and thus gave birth to my first official Rap on a song. Then I had the pleasure of having Jason and Rebecca come over and lay flutes and cellos and help me arrange the song. After that I sent it to Paisley and he sent back a one take of his acoustic piano contribution and I played the bass and guitars. My mother doesn't approve of the language but she overstands the relevance to make the point i'm making. If you know better, you should show better.
